Scottish Renewable Energy Firm Creates 30 Jobs and Plans 40 More as UK Expansion Accelerates

A fast-growing Scottish renewable energy company has created 30 new jobs across Scotland, England and Wales in just four months and is planning to recruit a further 40 employees as demand for solar and battery storage solutions continues to grow across the UK.

Glasgow-based Lime has surpassed growth targets set following a rebrand last year, expanding beyond its Scottish roots and establishing a growing presence across England and Wales.

Since April 2026, the company has welcomed 30 new team members, including 20 in Scotland, eight in England and two in Wales. The business is now preparing for its next phase of growth, with plans to recruit around 40 additional office and sales-based employees over the next six months.

The recruitment drive comes amid increasing consumer demand for renewable energy technologies, with more homeowners looking to reduce their energy bills and gain greater control over their household energy use.

Founded on a belief that renewable energy should be simple, accessible and transparent, Lime has built its reputation by helping homeowners understand and adopt technologies such as solar PV and battery storage without the confusion often associated with the sector.

The company’s growth follows a major rebrand launched in 2025, centred around a straightforward proposition: removing the jargon and complexity that often prevents people from making informed decisions about renewable energy.

James McLernon, Head of Marketing at Lime, said:

“The pace of growth has genuinely exceeded our expectations. We launched an ambitious expansion strategy with a three and five-year roadmap, but we’ve reached milestones in months that we expected to take years.

“Creating jobs is one of the things we’re most proud of. We’ve welcomed 30 new team members since April and we’re preparing to recruit around 40 more as demand continues to grow across the UK.

“What we’re seeing is a real shift in consumer behaviour. People want more control over their energy costs and they’re actively looking for trusted partners who can help them make the transition to renewable energy without the jargon and confusion.”

The company has also significantly increased its installation capacity, growing from around 10 to 15 installations per week two years ago to more than 30 installations per week today.

To support its continued expansion, Lime is preparing to relocate from its current Drumchapel headquarters to a new 10,000 sq ft premises in Clydebank, creating additional capacity for its growing workforce and operations.

Co-founder Paul McLernon said:

“We’ve always believed there was room in the market for a renewable energy company that puts customers first and strips away the complexity that often surrounds the industry.

“We started with a simple idea: make renewable energy easier to understand and easier to access. Everything we’ve achieved has grown from that philosophy.
“What’s particularly exciting is that we’re only just getting started. We’re seeing demand from right across the UK and we’re building a business capable of supporting customers wherever they are.”

Alongside its geographical expansion, Lime is also developing a dedicated division focused on supporting government-backed renewable energy schemes, helping more households access clean energy technologies and reduce their reliance on traditional energy sources.

Co-founder David Turnbull added:

“We’re incredibly proud of our Scottish roots and the business we’ve built here, but our ambition has always been bigger than Scotland alone.

“Our vision is to become one of the UK’s most trusted renewable energy brands. We’re growing quickly, but we’re determined to maintain the values that got us here in the first place: honesty, transparency and putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

“The renewable energy sector is evolving rapidly and we believe Lime is well placed to play a significant role in that future.”

With a growing workforce, expanding UK footprint and increasing demand for renewable energy solutions, Lime is continuing its rise as one of Scotland’s fastest-growing renewable energy businesses.
